First, I am hesiitant to use labels, so please don’t take this article too seriously (although most liberals I know are very serious).
For background, I grew up in an apolitical family, and I knew nothing about left or right. We ate the all American diet, and went to Catholic church and school. But I was in San Francisco in the 60s, so I started to grow my hair long and my bell bottoms wide, and I discovered drugs and beer. But I was also a hunter, as was my Dad and Grandad.
Then war broke out in Vietnam. The year I was turning 18, they were going to announce the draft lottery. I picked up the morning paper to see that my birthday, December 8, was number 1! If they held the draft that year, I would be first on the list, so I began to think about an escape to Canada. Again, I was not political, but I had a bad feeling about that war—which fortunately ended a few months later, whew!
Let me begin by saying, I love liberals. Maybe I love them because, well, I am one. Or to be more honest, I was one. Nearly 40 years ago, in my 30s, I attended leftist UC. Santa Cruz in California, studying–and also being indoctrinated in–sociology, psychology and women studies. I was now a good, far left, war-hating, progressive, vegetarian, feminist, environmentally savy student. I did a work study at a Center for Nonviolence and started a campus group called “Students for Nonviolence.”
I leaned far left for over 30 years, until I woke up, or more accurately, awakened. Today, I am not left or right, but like all of us, a spiritual being having a human experience. Labels divide and well, label us, which is often not a good thing.
So, what I love most about what we call liberals, if I may generalize, is that they care. They have compassion. They care for the downtrodden. They are concerned about the environment and the planet. They want to even the playing field.
In theory, liberals are good. The old party of JFK and RFK was a good thing. But then something happened that turned us from awake to woke, and it went downhill from there.
Empathy got weaponized. The way I see it, caring is good, unless we become indoctrinated and misinformed about what to care about, and what is really going on with the world, the environment, with the healthcare system, with the pharmaceutical industry, and the political system. When we demand change, we need to be well-informed.
For 20 years, I gave a short commentary each week for our local, leftist public radio station, KSER. But COVID emerged, I changed my views, and started to see more of what was going on with 5G, COVID and the vaccines, among other things. The station manager uninvited me from any future commentaries. I was finally speaking more truth, seeing a bit more clearly, and they would have none of it. It was one of my first times being “cancelled.”
See the War: It is crucial to see the war we are in, or more accurately, that we are being warred upon. It’s a physical war, and an info war, a war on our mind, on our body, and at the deepest level, a spiritual war. But I won’t get too far into that right now.
The important thing is to see that there are evil ones who are using any tools and tactics to defeat us: divide, disinform, distract, scare, sicken, drug and deprave us. Oh, and kill us.
There are many shades of gray in this evil, and we all have our hands dirty, or sin stained the Christians would say. Both major political parties have been and are used by the evil ones. But I would argue that the last decade or more has seen the left get the deepest indoctrination and programming. They have gone disturbingly and insanely woke.
We also have to distinguish. There are everyday left-leaning, well meaning citizens who are simply misinformed, often well educated, or hooked on and believing mainstream media. And then at the other extreme side are the truly evil ones, including Satanists, pedophiles, war mongers, and power brokers. They propagate the fake news and “education” that turns good leftists into lost and woke. And then in the middle, we have those politicians, media, educators, etc. who have been bought off or bribed or honeypot trapped. They are hooked and are doing the dirty work.
When I graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 1990 or so, at age 35, I had to decide whether to continue my education and go for a Masters Degree, or get out into the world. I decided to do human rights work in Central America.
My best college friend, a younger guy named Tim, continued on and became a Sociology professor. The last time we communicated, we were on different planets. He was completely indoctrinated within the leftist, woke mind virus. And he saw me as a crazy conspiracy theorist.
That’s when I realized that—generally–the more “education” one gets, the more indoctrinated and woke. Interestingly, the most rigid, serious, self-righteous, arrogant liberals are often the most “educated.” At first this seems odd, but of course, the more time we spend in school, the more programmed we are. (Again I generalize; there are many factors, including course of studies, etc.).
A huge percentage of college teachers and professors are far left. In areas like sociology, psychology, and many social sciences, it’s up in the 95% range or more. The fascinating thing is that as a leftist I always believed we were surrounded by, and overpowered by the right. We somehow could not see that the mainstream news was inundated by leftist views (in many cases C.I.A. assets).
So, this is no longer the old liberal party of JFK and RFK. Liberal and leftist has become synonymous with woke and indoctrinated. Just look at some of the crazy things we have witnessed just these last few years, mostly supported by the left:
- Sexualizing our children in schools
- Belief that a man can become a woman and vice versa
- Gender mutilation and child abuse defined as “gender affirming care”
- Support for DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) which is racist and divides and excludes and eliminates meritocracy
- Support for war and war spending
- Support of billions for Ukraine while people in North Carolina freeze
- Support for Antifa and BLM looting and destroying property
- Support to defund the police
- Opening the southern border and allow 10-20 million illegal immigrants in during Biden’s 4 years
- Climate change hysteria (of course we need to move to clean energy, but the UN and globalist driven hoax ignores real science)
- Ignoring a stolen election in 2020. Yes it was stolen
- Falling for J6 false flag (unarmed) supposed insurrection trap
- Hating a man (Trump Derangement Syndrome) because we are lied about him and told to fear and hate him
- Supporting forced vaccinations and quarantine of those who say no
- Seeing people like Anthony Fauci and Bill Gates as respected humanitarians
- Labeling and marginalizing anyone who speaks truth as “right wing, conspiracy theorist, white supremacist, Christian Nationalist”….
Again, working for our causes and for the underprivileged, if not based in reality and grounded in truth, is a waste of time and energy at the least, and downright dangerous at worst.
Liberals get very angry when we challenge some of the insanity, whether gender or climate change or whatever. I wonder if this is because on some level they really don’t have an argument. They are denying reality. That is why they can blow a fuse if you say something obviously true, like there are only two genders, or that men cannot give birth. When they disagree, the party of peaceful inclusion quickly moves to enraged exclusion and cancels you.
A couple examples of left or liberal groups I have been canceled from these last few years, when I dared to share a different view, here in the land of the free:
- My 20 year radio commentary (I previously mentioned)
- Another radio show I hosted
- A Unity Church mens’ group
- Countless clients and friends
I invited many of those who cancelled me to meet me for a cup of tea or coffee, or chat by phone, discuss and debate, rather than divide and conquer. I very much appreciated the courageous few people who took me up on it (we still disagreed, but were cordial), but over 95% chose division (unfriending me on Facebook for example). But I have to admit, some people were so vicious, I had to “unfriend” and say goodbye to a few as well. Something about faceless social media seems to feel like a safe space to give some people permission to attack with impunity!
George Orwell said, “The further a society drifts from truth, the more it will hate those that speak it.”
I have dozens of examples of insults, but I will just share one typical, more recent Facebook post, from a man whose name I will not mention. This was in response to my challenging the “official” narrative regarding January 6th.
“You, sir, are a shining example of idiocracy. You espouse a blind belief in obvious lies…. You frighten me. I know your ugly ignorance is representative of millions who are similarly duped. May you someday be slapped into reality, you hapless rube.”
Mark Twain said, “In the beginning of a change, the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot.”
None of us has all the answers, but we must commit to truth. We must be willing to hold our beliefs lightly, and be willing to change our views when presented with new research and evidence.
I have had people challenge me with something like this, “Will you be willing to admit if you are wrong?.” I reply, “Yes, I will!” My ego hates being wrong, but I am committed to truth—and diminishing my ego. In fact, I did. I was indoctrinated and confused and wrong for many years, but I changed my mind.
For example, I hated Trump, but decided to research and see if maybe there was another side to him. I wanted to get past personality, and see what he was actually doing. I believe he is on the right side of things, but I could be wrong. I just saw that I was believing what the news was saying about him rather than letting his actions speak for themselves. We shall see. As of now, in his second official term, he is doing everything right (although those who believe the news continue to ignore reality).
Truth—and Trump–are bigger and beyond left and right. In a democratic country, it is imperative that we have transparency, be open to new ideas, that we are not afraid to discuss and debate with people who hold different views. Rather than canceling each other, or immersing ourselves in echo chambers, we need to look at both right wing and left wing and every other wing news and info, and draw our own conclusions.
The good news is that, we are being shown the truth. Truth is impossible to conceal forever, like trying to hold a beach ball under water. Left and right, we are all awakening at our own pace, as revelations continue. It’s messy, but beautiful.
And lastly, there really is no left or right, just a bunch of humans trying to figure this Earth life out. We are in a fog of war, so let’s cut each other some slack.
As Rodney King famously said, “Can we all just get along?”
